Agora dei giovani del Mediterraneo - The Project
SUBJECTS OF THE PROJECT
For the project Agora dei Giovani del Mediterraneo a Charter has been drawn up, approved and ratified by the Italian Committee and the International Committee. It develops the above mentioned contents, pointing out the degree of engagement for each of the subjects involved.

Young people are involved in the project at different levels:
The Giovanni Paolo II Youth Centre, Loreto
- manages the project (together with the Italian Committee)
- takes care of the project’s organisational secretariat;
- hosts the executive secretariat and the website.
The Italian Committee is composed of:
- The Director of the Giovanni Paolo II youth Centre;
- the Director of the National Office of youth ministry (or his delegate);
- the Director of the National Office of missions (or his delegate);
- the President of the Association «Amici del Centro Giovanni Paolo II» (or his delegate);
- a representative of the Pontifical Delegation of the «Holy House of Loreto».
- It manages the project (together with the Giovanni Paolo II Youth Centre);
- prepares the annual programme and takes care of its realisation;
- prepares an annual financing plan, to be submitted to the Italian Bishops Conference;
- prepares fundraising and sponsorship projects to be presented to the European Union;
- meets at least three times a year.
The International Committee consists of:
- The Directors of the National Offices of youth ministry and missions of the partner Counties (or their delegates);
- The Director of the Youth Centre Giovanni Paolo II;
- year by year, it establishes the project’s guidelines;
- indicates the main activities for the year’s programme;
- meets at least once a year.
The coordinating Secretariat:
- carries out the events of the agenda;
- Organises the meetings of the Italian Committee and International Committee;
- Organises the exchange visits among the Mediterranean Countries;
- Projects and manages the website.
To be a Partner Country it is necessary to:
- participate in the International Committee annual meeting;
- send the Country’s person in charge of the youth ministry and of the Mission Office (or their delegates) to the meeting in Loreto and to International initiatives;
- make available two young people (one involved in youth ministry and the other in mission activities) willing to be stable monitors of the project: they could be the same people who join the week in Loreto;
- send a national delegation to the week in Loreto (besides the two people invited by the Italian Bishops Conference) financially supported by the Partner Country;
- provide interpreters during the Agora events and for the website;
- promote a reflection on the project’s themes with the Country’s youth (by means of meetings, publications, media…);
- spread information about the project and its contents in the Country’s territory.
To be Adherent Country it is necessary to:
- make available two young people (one involved in youth ministry and the other in mission activities) willing to be stable monitors of the project: they could be the same people who join the week in Loreto;
- produce and share documents and projects concerning Agora themes;
- provide interpreters during the Agora events and for the website;
- promote a reflection on the project’s themes with the Country’s youth (by means of meetings, publications, media…);
- spread information about the project and its contents in the Country’s territory.
Young people are involved in the project at different levels:
- two delegates for each Mediterranean County participate in the International week in Loreto (sent by their Episcopal Conference); delegations from partner Countries are also present;
- International exchange visits help to get in touch with some of the most significant situations of the world of the young in the visited Country.
- study and communication projects started by partner and adherent Countries allow a relevant number of young people to get involved in youth ministry activities in their own territory (especially associated young people).
- The multi-lingual website is a point of reference for all the youth in the Mediterranean area.
