From 1st to 8th september: the Agorà dei Giovani del Mediterraneo
8th Edition «Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven» (Mt 5, 10). The Documentation Service (Sedoc) of Radio Vaticana send us the transcription of a spoke about the 8th edition of the Agorà del Mediterraneo just broadcasted.
The 8th edition of theAgora del Mediterraneo gather in Loreto many young people coming from three continents for a week in praying, debating, visiting and testifying about: “Blessed are wich are persecuted for having done the God's will: for God will give them his kingdom”; The “Giovanni Paolo II” Centre of Montorso will host the meeting promoted by the National Service of the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI) for youthness and the National Office of CEI for the Missionarian Cooperation among Churches. About 130 youngs delegatef of the Episcopal Conferences will participate to the meeting, on behalf of catholic communities of North Africa, Middle East and Europe: in some workshop they will reflect about their experience and they knowledge of persecutions till now in act against christian minorities.
This topic will then analysed by F. Claudio Monge, dominican father, in charge of the centre of Interreligious Documentation directed by the Order of preachers in Istambul; he will talk about the element "persecution" in Saint Paul.
The youngs of the Agorà will spend a day in L'Aquila, as sign of solidarity with their contemporaries, taking part to meetings about the support that the faith in God can do in such diificult period of theirs life. The town of L'Aquila was damaged on April 2009 by a strong heartquake that killed 300 people. The day will culminate with the Mess celebrated by the Archbishop fo L'Aquila, mons. Giuseppe Molinari.
Saturday 5th september Luigi Accattoli, reporter from Vatican, will offer a contribution about the silent eroism of many christian people, that sacrifice themselves to defend the Gospel in many hidden little events of common life. In the evening, the Archbishop of Loreto Giovanni Tonucci will lead a praying get-together in the Sanctuary of Loreto, remembering two big events: “EurHope ’95” the European Youthness Meeting, and the pastoral visit of pope Benedict XVI in Loreto in 2007, in occasion of the “Agora of italian young people”.
Un’altra testimonianza importante sarà resa da mons. Jean-Clément Jeanbart, Arcivescovo di Aleppo dei Greco-Melchiti, ospite dell’Agorà al mattino di lunedì 7, che parlerà dell’antichità della fede cristiana in Siria, con comunità risalenti ai tempi apostolici. Nel tardo pomeriggio i giovani parteciperanno alla celebrazione dei Primi Vespri della Solennità della Natività di Maria e alla successiva processione della Statua della Madonna per le vie del centro storico, presieduta da mons. Luca Brandolini, Vescovo di Sora-Aquino-Pontecorvo. La Celebrazione Eucaristica della Natività di Maria - presieduta dall’Arcivescovo Prelato al mattino dell’8 settembre - segnerà la conclusione del raduno dei giovani del Mediterraneo, alcuni dei quali si fermeranno in Italia fino al 12 settembre, ospiti di una trentina di diocesi di tutto il Paese.
